Umenzi

MenzI: A Sun amongst other sons. Menzi Mbonambi is an artist, musician, writer, poet and a social activist based in Johannesburg. A founder and a member of Men of the Past collective a musical band. He is also working with the African Wright-Us Forum and other social movements across the country. Raised in Durban Umlazi and studied at the University of Natal. His art and music are focused on social change and bringing awareness to the people about their struggle and social injustices. he believes that artists have a spacial role in the community which has been misinterpreted by the people of today, hence artists should take their respectable place in our society and remind the people about the power of art and music. |Currently Menzi is based at the Drill Hall where he established a Green Office an outdoor exhibition Space where children and adults come to learn about creative gardening and permaculture. Together with the band he has released a single titled Blowing Winds which is available around the world on I tunes, Amazon, Spotify and Emusic.
